Catching Sunrise-Rizal Boulevard,Dumaguete City

“ So that from the rising of the sun, to the place of its setting, men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other” –Isaiah 45:6

Indeed every day is a brand new day. Another day of struggle and survival. Another day to be grateful of God’s abundant mercy and love, another addition of the free gift of Life from God.

Today, the early crowing of the rooster wakes me up from asleep as a sign of a new day. It was still dark, I was just staring at the ceiling of our house thinking of the unwelcome situation yesterday while the Sun itself is still below the horizon. Because today is my rest day, I thought it’d be a great idea to start the weekend by witnessing a sunrise. Yes, that sounds great followed by a church fellowship at 8:30.

The City of Dumaguete, being situated towards east, so as the general direction of sunrise, likewise the City’s Rizal Boulevard is an ideal location to catch a perfect sunrise. I drove my way downtown at around 30 minutes and proceed to the boulevard where majority of the people that time does a regular conditioning and exercise. A few groups I’ve seen at the other end doing a regular jog, some men performing push-ups, others doing arm circles and low squats. Morning routines like that are actually important to set the pace for the day, keeps our blood flowing and mind ready to tackle anything comes along.

From afar, the slowly ascending of a luminous celestial body where apparently the sea seems to meet the sky radiated a light and brilliance. The uprising of the sun happens in a short amount of time.

At first glance, the sun was approximately divided in equal parts into the horizon. The other half seemingly submerged into the sea, while the other half is exposed in the atmosphere. Then, subsequently a quarter part of it shows up. Latterly, it moved upward, completely above the horizon. But, a large number of clouds appeared and seems covering up the sun to shine. But the light keep shining, soared high that it looks like the sun is riding up the clouds and eventually up in the sky showing that nothing stops her to shine that day.

At that point, I realize that in life, God is our source of refuge (Nahum 1:7) as the sun is the source of warmth and light. The light produced by the sun can be compared to a shelter or solution in times of our distress and difficulties. No matter how good life is, there are always challenges to deal with. In the same manner, the clouds covering up the sun are the hindrances for it to shine. Likewise, the clouds are similar to our problems and challenges, thus deprives us to have a cheerful day.

Problems are temporary and every problem has a solution. God has his own plans and I believe he prepares a way of it in his own will and timeline. As I have an adequate time today to think of a better answer to my problem, it’s always a good way to address it to our Almighty and an earnest prayer to lead us on right decisions (Psalms 25:4). Time for me now to move, church fellowship will follow afterwards.

Have a good day ahead everyone.
